In the end I think it was mostly about timing. After one or two weeks the first swadian lords started to defect and join me. With a relatively small amount of troops I was able to patrol the area, switch between the two towns and help the Nords out if they were in some trouble. Suno was pretty close so once I had a minimal garrison and my army back up I was able to siege it. Had to play defensive around my first town (Uxhal) for the first few days but after I had captured a bunch of Swadian lords, the Nords smelled blood and distracted them by going for Praven. Swadians were pretty distracted as they were at war with 2 factions as usual. I thought so too but it actually went surprisingly easy. you would need very elaborate preparations. Being at war with Swadia and Rhodock, while having to generate the initial garrisons. This is a great start if you own those cities in someone else's name and rebel.īut if you are trying to start a kingdom, it's a whole other story. If you leave Praven and Dhirim alone the Rohodoks are probably the only ones you have to worry about.

The lords that own the villages will almost overlap in territoy (they can take care of bandits for you) and if you can keep the caravans safe you can make about 10K each in tarrifs. The towns are very close together so you can quickly swap garrisons depending on which one gets attacked. If you like to defend in siege battles, the Nords are a royal pain in the аss. My choice may not work for you, though, because I defend my cities on the field, not on the walls. when I start a faction without extensive preparation, I pick an edge Nord city. Personally, when I speedrun the game, i.e. Narra is far away from the Steppe bandits lair, and close enough to the center of the map, so it will have good income.īut if you are really concerned about surviving the first few weeks, you probably want a city on the edge of the map. Thus, your immediate opponent will be the Khergits, who are weak in siege battle, both on the offense and defense. Narra is a good choice, because only one faction has territorial claims on it. But you will often have to fight two-three factions at once for them. Yes, they have great value as capitals, and yes, they draw immense caravan tariffs. Unless you are feeling tough enough to take on everyone, the central cities, such as Dhirim, Uxkhal, Halmar, etc. Thus, your main concerns should be about defensiblity.

When you start your kingdom, you should have enough cash on hand so that you do not worry about economy in the short term.
